2014 Cinco de Mayo 5K Run Registration Now Open!

Registration for the 17th Annual Cinco de Mayo 5K Run is officially open! Join us on Sunday, May 4th for another year of family and friends, competitive fun, and by far the best part... the children's races! Registration is now open online at Active.com through May 1st. You can also register through mail by downloading our flyer and entry blank here.

When and where is the race being held this year?
This year's race will be held on Sunday, May 4th 2014 at 11AM sharp, rain or shine. The race again takes place in Bartel Pritchard Square in Prospect Park, Brooklyn.
How do I sign up?
Registration is now open online at Active.com through May 1st. You can also register through mail by downloading our entry blank here, filling it out and mailing it with your entry fee to: P.O. Box 180445, Brooklyn, NY 11218-0445. You can also register on race day, beginning 8AM.
What are the race fees?
Races fees for the 5K Run are $25.00 before April 28 and $30.00 thereafter. All children's races are $10.00
Are there awards given out?

Yes. Awards are as follows:

Top Male & Female winner will receive an all expenses paid trip to compete in the Modesto Carrion 10Km in Juncos, Puerto Rico (November 2014). Top 3 Male & Female will also receive 3 day accommodations expenses to compete in the Carrera Internacional del Migrante 10K - La Mixteca in Puebla, Mexico (Saturday, January 24, 2015) with over $15,000.00 in prize money. (*Winners must have qualifying time of 15:30 (Male) and 16:40 (Female) in 5K to qualify for trip to Puerto Rico.)

Top 3 finishers in each of the following age groups will also be awarded: 15 & under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 , 60-69, 70+, Top Race Walker (must be registered as a race walker on entry blank).

Top 3 male and female teams will be awarded, top 3 finishers for each team will contribute to scoring.

All children who participate in the children's races (excluding the 5K) will receive a medal.

I want to run the 5K but I also want to bring my kids to run in the children's races?
No problem. The children's races will begin towards the end of the 5K run, approximately 11:40AM. However, please note that you must have someone available to care for your children during the 5K.
What are the distances for the children's races?

The children's races are split by age groups as follows:

4 and under (100 meters), 5 - 6 year olds (200 meters), 7 - 8 year olds (400 meters), 9 - 10 year olds (600 meters), 11 - 12 year olds (800 meters), 13 - 14 year olds (1000 meters)

How do I get to the race?

To get there by car, take the BQE to Prospect Park Expressway, Exit 4 (10th & 11th Ave). Make a right on 10th Avenue. Make a right on 20th Street. Make a right on Prospect Park West and proceed to the traffic circle, the entrance to the park is Bartel Pritchard Square.

To get there by train, take the (F) train to Prospect Park - 15th St.

Can I pick up my number and race packet before race day?
Unfortunately, as of right now you cannot pick up your race number ahead of time. We are working on making this possible, so please stay tuned for updates. If this does become available, we will inform all pre-registered participants by email and update our site and Facebook pages.
Will there be a place for me to check my bag?
Yes, there will be a baggage check for you to leave your personal belongings during the race.
